David O’s musical compositions span a broad range of styles and genres, and have been featured in the theatre, in concert halls, and in film and television.


His concert work has included numerous choral compositions, including most notably "A Map of Los Angeles", commissioned by the Los Angeles Master Chorale and performed by them twice at Walt Disney Concert Hall.  His "Fanfare for Grand Park" was created specifically for the opening of Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles, and featured a collaboration with LA-based musicians from around the world.

David's composition One With the Wind and his arrangement of Silent Night are currently available to be performed by choirs everywhere. To purchase score copies and/or to inquire about performance rights please contact David directly.

David’s work for the theatre has included the critically-acclaimed scores for Hippolytos and Helen  at the Getty Villa, The Very Persistent Gappers of Frip at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, and and Ubu Roi at A Noise Within, for which David received an Ovation Award for Sound Design in recognition of his original score.


His film work has included creating the scores for the documentary Bronies: the Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony and the feature film First Comes Like, and contributing to the soundtrack for the Warner Brothers picture License to Wed, as well as appearing very briefly on screen in that film.

David’s work as a composer is enhanced and deepened by his unique skills as a multi-faceted music-theatre artist: pianist, conductor, arranger, vocal coach, and sometimes actor.  He has received numerous awards and accolades over the years for his work, including Ovation Awards, LA Weekly and LA Drama Critics Circle Awards, and Backstage West Garland Awards, and and was the 2012 recipient of the LA Drama Critics Circle Joel Hirschhorn Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre.
